Block your number when retuning a call; don’t give your number but you may ask for the buyers. I have met buyers and sold items by emails only. Better yet utilize Google voice from your craigslist only email and call from that number. 3) Say what city you’re in. (obvious but I seen ads placed from other cities two hours away). 4) Never Never meet at your home; utilize meeting the person at a public location. But John!!! I have an exception to this rule!!!! I’m selling lamps and Living Room Furniture with a 12x12 carpet. Consider are you willing to invite someone who you don’t know in your home? It could be, A rob you in a month recon mission and worth the $200 they will spend on your items. Note:Locally people have been robbed in public so still be cautious. I grew up out west one of the safest places around if you have a high end item; go to a Casino. Spend a few dollars during your visit so you’re not loitering. Subnote: I didn't say what casino so don’t email letters of remove this now lol.
5) Only Accept CASH, No money orders or checks. If you must PAYPAL is secure but only if you adhere to their tried and tested methodology. But John! I accepted checks and money orders in the past why should I worry now? Also I heard that Postal money orders are the safest. I agree but the realm of the Ciber Social Wolves have a way of corrupting theses too. Stolen Postal Money orders 6) The free section is for free items. Not puppies for sale and such. 7) Its best practice to not hold a item for a buyer longer than a few hours or a day. 8) If your item is sold remove the Ad; don’t update the post to reflect sold. 9) I don’t ship ever!!! Some do have success with this but not for me. 10) Don’t copy an ad verbatim from EBay, nothing is wrong with research but be original. Note: 11) You can post up to four pictures. Do such!!! Make it four very clear pictures. They should show the model number if applicable and show all accessories you are including in one of the pictures. It’s also advisable to include a sentence with a inventory of everything included. 12) Be truthful about the condition of the item; Scratches, Dents, Missing parts, Rust. 13) If your ad is flagged; you might have copied copyrighted information and someone reported you or sometimes people are just monkeys. 14) I always include the following at the bottom of my ad CASH ONLY/Local Only/ No I will not ship this to you/this price is Firm 15) If you are selling multiple items. Include a tag such as: Do a search for my other items use the keyword U196X 16) READ LINE 5 AGAIN!!!!
